Democracy in Khartoum American School

Khartoum American School has recently experienced a form of democracy, as the students voted for their representatives in the Student Council. They voted for a president, secretary, and treasurer. As well as the changes from autocratic/ dictatorship to democracy around the Middle-Eastern and North African region, Khartoum American School is also practicing democracy in order to teach its students to have a say in their countries. The elections went fairly and Iman El-Mahdi was elected president, Hayam El-Sanousi was elected secretary, and Moi El-Bashir was elected treasurer.

The student council is a powerful body at KAS as it organizes entertaining events for the students, including dances and movie nights. It also helps in voluntary work to raise money for the school through bake sales and candy grams on Valentine’s Day. The main role of the Student Council is to keep the KAS community fun and socially engaging, and to raise money for community-service initiatives and other student council projects. Two years ago, the money that was raised by the student council was sent to the people in the Gaza strip due to their suffering from food shortages and the harsh living conditions that are practiced on them by the Israelis. The Student council is a method of teaching students the importance of engagement in the community; it produces a strong sense of community.

بالخرطوم الامريكية المدرسة فى الديمقراطية

شهدت المدرسة الأمريكية بالخرطوم في الآونة الأخيرة شكل من أشكال الديموقراطية حيث قام الطلاب بالتصويت لإختيارالرئيس، السكرتير، وأمين الصندوق و ذلك من أجل تمثيلهم فى مجلس الطلبة. فضلا عن التغييرات من الديكتاتورية الإستبدادية إلى الديمقراطية في جميع أنحاء الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا ، فأن المدرسة الأمريكية بالخرطوم تمارس الديمقراطية أيضا من أجل تعليم طلابها أن يكون لهم رأي في بلادهم. لقد تم إنتخاب إيمان المهدي كرئيسة، وهيام السنوسى كسكيرتيرة كما تم انتخاب موي البشير اميناً للصندوق.

مجلس الطلبة هو هيئة مؤثرة في المدرسة، يقوم بتنظم فعاليات ترفيهية للطلاب بما في ذلك من رقصات وأفلام. كما إنه يساعد في العمل التطوعي من خلال بيع الحلوى وغيرها . دوره الرئيسي هو الحفاظ على متعة الطلاب داخل المدرسة و جمع الأموال لمبادرات خدمة المجتمع وغيرها من المشاريع. قبل عامين ، تم إرسال الأموال التي جُمعت من قبل مجلس الطلبة للشعب الفلسطيني في قطاع غزة بسبب معاناتهم من نقص فى الغذاء والظروف المعيشية القاسية التي فُرضت عليهم من قبل الإسرائيليين. مجلس الطلبة هو وسيلة لتعليم الانخراط وغرس الشعور بالرغبة فى خدمة المجتمع.
