Teacher Profile: Ms. Kelley

Ms. Kelley

Imagine living in a climate where the ponds are still frozen in April. It is probably hard considering the fact that Sudan’s average temperature is over 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Ms. Kelley grew up in Alaska in a small village, playing in the snow with her brother and sisters.  When she was 3 years she suffered a fatal severe allergic reaction  and could not eat chicken, beef, eggs, nuts or milk. She grew up eating goats' milk, deer and moose as a substitution for chicken and beef.

In her elementary years she had quite a story. In second grade she fell in love with Wesley Ladd and thought the only way for him to love her back was to sing at the top of her lungs in the middle of class to her favorite song.  Most high schools have the jocks, druggies, preppy, and the pretty popular ones.  Well, she managed to be them all; she was president of Student Council, had straight A’s and even managed to become Prom Queen and her dream job was to become a wedding dress designer and later discovered her passion for teaching.

Now Ms. Kelley enjoys reading poems, watching her favorite movie American History x, and watching the series Glee. She has completely fallen in love with everything in our school, except for the heat. Some of her favorite things about Sudan are the bread and the mango, which is understandable since in Alaska the mangoes have to go half away around the world for it to finally reach her local supermarket.  Overall Ms. Kelley has always had a curios personality that led all the way to teaching in Sudan. Her strive for teaching has clearly paid off
