Interview with Ms. Nada

                                     BY , Ali Naweed

Ms. Nada is an Arabic teacher at KAS. She was born in Abu Dhabi, where she spent 13 years of her life before she moved to Sudan. Her father was a surveyor engineer and her mother was a surveyor technician. She speaks Arabic, English, and French. When she was in high school, she wanted to become an engineer. However, she changed her mind on the first day of her senior high school year, in which she chose ِArts over Science.

She graduated from Khartoum University Faculty of Arts. Her first job was attended at an art gallery. Ms. Nada’s second and current job at Khartoum American School began in 2007. She worked as a nursery nanny for two years and then she became the nursery teacher for another two years. But now she teaches Arabic. She likes the school because it is global and she gets to see people from all over the world.

As I was interviewing Ms. Nada, she told me that her favorite place for a holiday is Kenya. She told me a story – she once went to Mombasa and people thought that she is Kenyan but she told them that she is Sudanese.

Ms. Nada narrated to me one of her interesting life experiences, which took place in Riyad. She told me that she was in a grocery store, where she met a man who didn't know Arabic and could not tell the shop keeper what he wanted. She helped out the man and aided him to get what he wanted. She had a nice chat with the man, in which she learned that he was the “Nigerian Consul. As a thank you gift, she got an invitation to visit the Nigerian Embassy.

Ms. Nada is thought of as an open-minded and an easygoing person. She likes Sudan because families strongly bond together and people generally respect each other. Her family is tightly connected. However, the negative side about Sudan is its weather. As she said, “It is very hot.” As my interview with Ms. Nada continued, she added that she likes traveling.
